I am currently using PowerPoint 2000 on a Windows 2000
system. Powerpoint automatically changes URL's typed like
http://www.google.com into hyperlinks. I then have to
remove the link after typing it. Is there any way to set
PowerPoint to not default to linking addresses?
TIA
George

George,
You can turn if off permanently by:
1. Selecting Tools | AutoCorrect options from the PowerPoint menu.
2. Selec the 'AutoFormat As You Type' tab
3. Untick 'Internet and network paths with hyperlinks' option.
4. Click on OK

Alternately, you can change any formatted hyperlink, as you type, by
pressing Ctrl+Z immediately after you've typed the hyperlink. This is revert
the formatted hyperlink to plain text.

I have 2002, so I don't remember if the options are identical, but here
is how it is done in 2002. Go to the Tools menu and choose AutoCorrect
Options. Click on the AutoFormat as You Type tab. Uncheck the box under
"Replace as you type" for "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks."
It might be a little different in 2000, but this should get you started
finding this option.

Another thing you should note. Any time Office does something like this
to you, you can always undo right away to get rid of it (go to the Edit
menu and choose Undo, or ctr-Z on your keyboard).
