I have my system set to download (but not install) updates
automatically. I recently had IE7 downloaded. I do not want to
install this, I am satisfied with what I have. I can find no way to
delete the down-load. How can I do this?

I am running Win XP Pro SP2.

Any assistance appreciated.

Hi Ken,

You can clear your downloaded updates by renaming the
c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. If you want that this update is not
offered to you any more you can go to Windows Update site (Tools/Windows
Update), choose Custom and click to select "Don't show this update again"
under the update you do not want to get offered.

Hi Ken,

You can clear your downloaded updates by renaming the
c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. To rename SoftwareDistribution
folder follow this steps:

1. Click Start and Run

2. Type cmd and press Enter

3. Type net stop wuauserv and press Enter

4. Type ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistributionOld

5. Type net start wuauserv

If you want that this update is not offered to you any more you can go to
Windows Update site (Tools/Windows Update), choose Custom and click to
select Don't show this update again under the update you do not want to get
offered.
