We use XP-Pro and have given our employees "Power User" status. This allows
them to run all of the programs that we want them to run but blocks them
from taking full control of their computers.

However, when an automated update from MS or McAfee is detected they can not
install these updates. My question is... Is there a way to grant them the
power to install these updates without giving them administrator privileges?

Thanks,

Laser

Yes...

Implement SUS or WUS in your environemtn or use something like SMS to deploy
the updates you want... take it out of the users hands all together and
control it globally...

I beleive these (SUS/WUS) require Windows 2003 Server. We are using XP-Pro
only. Can SUS or WUS be implemented in a XP-Pro (Sp2) system?

Thanks

It runs on Windows 2000 Server as well.

The server part of SUS\WUS, no.

So I get back to my original question...

Is there a way to grant them (Power Users) the power to install updates

Thanks in advance
