We absolutely cannot get automatic updates installed once
they are downloaded. Two of typical error messages are:

Perflib The open procedure for service "PerfDisk" in
DLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\perfdisk. dll" has taken longer
than the established wait time to complete. There may be a
problem with this extensible counter or the service it is
collecting data from or the system may have been very busy
when this call was attempted.

Application Hang Hanging application IEXPLORE.EXE, version
6.0.2800.1106, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang
address 0x00000000.

System Info:
--MS Windows XP HE V2002, Service Pack 1
--Dell Dimension DIM4550 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.53GHz
--512MB Ram

--MS Internet Explorer 6.0
--MS Outlook Express 6.0

Make sure that the "Automatically Install" option is UNchecked. After
having downloaded, go off line and disable your AV program and firewall.
Then try the install..
