I have activated the automatic updates and it seems to
work, however, it will sign on my internet connection and
then leaves without signing off or disconnecting. Is there
a option that I can set to cause it to sign off or do I
have to disable the automatic options ? ? ?

What should happen, I suspect, is that the connection should drop after the
inactivity period--which defaults to 20 minutes, as I recall (this is set in
Internet Options). I suspect disabling the automatic update will be a
better option for you.

Is the ms spyware set up to run on DSL or Cable or any
other always on systems and not Dialup ? ? ?

I haven't run it on a dialup. As I recall, the autoupdate feature is quite
simple--it asks for a time to do the update.

I presume that if you are not online at that time, and your system is set to
autodial, the attempt to update will invoke and autodial. Such a connection
would normally disconnect based on the timeout set for the Internet
connection.

So--I don't think that the feature is oriented either way--if you know you
are normally online at a given time of day, you can set autoupdate to that
time of day. Otherwise, the autoupdate feature seems inappropriate for
dialup users. There is also File, check for updates, to allow for manual
updating.
