Hi
I have automatic updates enabled and up until now had no
problem. Last night the auto update kicked in and after 2-
3 hours had only completed 38% of the updare. Today after
starting up my computer Auto Updates is still going on
and after another 3 and a half hour has only completed
53% of the download. This can't go on - it's costing
loads!!
I have tried to stop it by right clicking on the task bar
icon but I don't even get a choice of actions, it shows,
and does, absolutely.
Can someone please help - I don't know what to do?!
With thanks in advance - Bev.

To stop the Automatic Updates service, clear the contents of the DataStore and
Download folders, (if appropriate EventCache) and restart the Automatic Updates
service

1. Stop the Automatic Updates Service.
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service. Select Properties.
Under Service status, click Stop.
Click OK

2. Now you'll need to clean out the Download folder for WU5 by deleting the Contents
of the DataStore and Download folders.
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
Click OK.
Delete the contents of both the DataStore, (and perhaps the EventCache) and Download
folders.

You will lose your WUv5 History - not important
