Automatic update has shrunk everything

Tom

I had an automatic update Sunday that did the following
things. Web pages now only take up half the screen.
Cursor is 2/3 its orignal size. Task Bar icons are
smaller than before. Text inside windows is about size 6
pt. You really need a magnifying glass to use the
machine anymore. I have tried adjusting display and
accessibility in the control panel and nothing works.
Does anyone know (a) how to fix these problems, or (b)
how to uninstall the latest microsoft update? I am
running XP Professional on a Dell 8200 Inspiron. Thanks.

It sounds like a driver update may have been delivered via AutoUpdate. Do
you have a UXGA or SXGA+ screen on your Inspiron?

You can adjust font sizes in two places:
1) Display Properties \ Appearance tab (fonts)
2) Display Properties \ Settings tab \ Advanced button (DPI settings)

The users manual indicates that the display could be
either UXGA or SXGA+. Is there a way to determine what
the display is using the machine? I have looked in
Device Manager/Monitors and Device Manager/Display
adapters and neither tell me that information.

I have tried both of the suggestions on fonts and it will
increase the font size on the desktop but not in
applications. The biggest problem occurs using Internet
Explorer. Some web pages utilize the entire screen and
others use only the center portion of the screen and
leave large white areas on either side.

I can send you a screen capture of the web situation if
that would help.

If you get a double posting, it is because I didn't think
the first went through.
