Hello --
The other day I installed .NET Framework v. 2.0 Beta on top of v 1.1 with
SP1. I saw that v. 2.0 Beta installed in a different subfolder
(\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50215, so that it really wasn't on top
of the earlier version but apparently parallel to it. I decided to see if it
woruld work without the earlier versions present, so I uninstalled v. 1.1 and
v. 1.1 SP1. Sure enough, .NET Framework apps fired up as expected (e.g. MS
Money 2005).

However, with automatic updates turned on (Win XP Home), I am continuously
notified that .NET Framework, v. 1.1, SP1 is available for installation. If I
cancel, the reminder won't go away. If I try to install it, the installation
procedure begin but always fails (presumably because I no longer have v. 1.1
installed.)

(How) can I get rid of the constant notification that I should install .NET
Framework v. 1.1 SP1 short of turning off automatic updates? Alternately,
should I strive to reinstall the update because it performs some useful
function for .NET Framework 2.0 Beta??

TIA for any guidance you can offer on this.

The 2.0 Framework is still in beta, so there are bound to be SNAFUs. I know
of no way to turn off the warning, unfortunately.
