Automatic Tasks??

Hi

In Outlook 2002. When I have the calendar on screen with the week on the
left with the times and the “task pad†on the right.

Instead of having a static “task pad†which is the same for whatever day I
click on, I want to be able to have a different “task pad†come up when I
click on a different day.

Also when I do not manage to complete a particular task for that day, I want
it to be able to roll over to the next day automatically. So that the
uncompleted task will be there on each consecutive day until I delete it.

Is there any way of doing this or do I have to use a third party piece of
calendar software. If so any suggestions

Easy peasy. I teach it every day.....

The setting to make the TaskPad work properly (ie the way you suggest and
what is recognised as quality time management process) is:

View | TaskPad View | Active Tasks for Selected Days. Now the TaskPad will
show Tasks based on Start Date and the will go Red the day after Due Date.
They roll forward as you described. You will not see them roll forward
until each day commences, (ie you can't click on tomorrow and see all of
today's Tasks plus tomorrow's) but they will roll forward - trust me!

Thanks for your reply. I have tried what you suggest but not quite what I
was looking for.
The same "task pad" is still the same one for all days and the only thing
that happens is that the task that I did say yesterday and ticked as being
done is no longer there today.

What I wanted was to have a new task pane for each day show up so that I can
put a task up for say three weeks in advance but not have to see it until I
click onto the day in question. I also want all the tasks fotr the preceeding
days to roll over to the next day and the next day and the next day until
they have been completed.

Is it possible.

What you described just there is EXACTLY what my suggested settings do.
Make sure to set START Dates as well as Due Dates.

Hi again Judy

As I said, I did as you suggested and then input some tasks for yesterday.
Cancelled one as being completed. Today I have all the tasks still showing
apart from the one I completed. It does not Show In Red though.

Just exactly what do you mean by ""make sure you set START dates as well as
Due dates"" Where do I go to do this and what do I do?

Tasks will appear in the TaskPad (if you use the setting I suggested) on
their Start Date. They will go Red the day after their Due date.

Start and Due date are buttons within a Task. Open a Task and have a look -
on the left, below the Subject line.

The easy way to set dates is to use the Start Date button and click a day
using the drop down arrow and the little Calendar that appears. If you want
a gap between Start and Due, use the Start Date button and drop down the
arrow, wipe a date range on the Calendar that appears.
