whenever I connect, thru dial-up, using winXP, after a
few minutes or so the system shuts down. It says it's NT
Authority\System. Does anybody know how to fix that?

you have a virus infection

to stop the shutdown goto

Start
Run
type
CMD
click OK

<command prompt opens>

type

shutdown -a

press enter

that should abort the shutdown.

Now take a look at

http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.mspx

also look at installing (and updating) a anti virus

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php

is a free one.

additionally look at enabling the built in firewall and applying all the
updates from Windows Update,

Finally look at additional protection from programs such as Spybot

No--I'm as frustrated as you are, will not spend $35
writing to MSN. THey're full of sh't. I have switched to
OPERA, it's a great browser, 10 times faster--there's a
free version (with ads) and a version you can pay for. Try
it. No error messages at all. You can import all of your IE
favorites, plus they have wonderful bookmarks. IE sucks. so
do a lot of other Microsoft programs. I will switch to a
Mac next purchase. It aint worth it.

This is not a browser issue, its a virus infection caused by not
applying an update and by not having an antivirus in place.
