According to all documentation that I can read, ASR backs
up only pertinent system files. When I invoke ASR to
establish a recovery set, it begins backing up all files
on the host, including temporary internet files. In this
instance, this behavior leads to a 25 GB backup set. I
have read that there should be a [IncludeFiles] section of
the asr.sif file that specifies which files should be
included in the backup set. However, there is none in the
asr.sif in the Windows\Repair directory following a fresh
installation. Can someone explain the operation of the
ASR tool and the behavior that I am experiencing.
