automatic slide transition

All my slides transfer automatically except those in which i put a sound clip that DOES NOT START FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE CLIP with the option of continuing the clip for a designated amount of slides. The slides that have this type of clip don't transfer automatically, and i have to manually move to the next clip. Any suggestions?

Hello,

It sounds like the "Continue slide show" setting did not get set. You might
have to trick PowerPoint 2003 into setting this since it's not available
through new Custom Anmation task pane or effect settings dialogs. Try the
following:

1) Tools -> Options
2) In the "Edit" tab, select "New animation effects" in the "Disable new
features" group and click "OK"
3) Select the icon for the inserted sound file on the slide it begins on
4) Slide Show -> Custom Animation (this should bring up the old animation
settings dialog)
5) In the "Multimedia settings" tab make sure that the "Continue slide
show" option is selected and click "OK"
6) Run the slide show.

It the presentation now works the way you want, you will probably want to
restore the ability to use the new custom animation interface:

7) Tools -> Options
8) In the "Edit" tab, uncheck "New animation effects" in the "Disable new
features" group and click "OK"

I tried that, (I also saw it suggested in a previous post) but it does not work. "continue slideshow" is checked, but the slide still doesn't advance automatically. I saw someone else post the exact same problem - are there any other suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken, this is an issue when you try to start the sound from someplace other than the beginning of the sound file. ISTR I ran into it on one or another versions of PPT, anyway. (2002 or 2003, I think.)

Only fix I know is to edit the sound in a sound editor to trim off the first however-many-seconds. That allows PPT to play the sound "as is," and should alleviate your problem.

Sorry there's not a simpler solution.
