I would like to know how to change the setting on my computer to shutdown automatically.

I got into the 'start' meun, then click 'shutdown', the next screen is 'its now safe to switch off your computer' and i then have to switch off the computer manually by the plug in the wall. On my previous computer i did not have to use the plug button, it was all done automatically, how do I do this on Windows XP

Thank

If you hold the power button in for 10 seconds it will cut the power...This
will keep you from having to physically unplug the machine.

I'd take a look at the hardware vendors web site. I've encountered this
with a lot of older HP machines and have always been able to download a
patch from HP which allowed the shutdown to proceed normally. What vendor
and machine model is this?

Kind Regards,
