Automatic send/receive on startup

This is a subject that periodically gets posted but I have yet to see a
solution. I just installed Outlook 2003 on Win XP and now do not get an
automatic sync and send/receive on startup. Send/receive works fine with
the F9 function key.

Microsoft Knowledge Base says this is a problem with a damaged account file
and directs you to create a copy of your account file, then disable the F9
feature on the original account file. I tried this without success.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

You really haven't posted any information that would permit an answer.
At the very least you should post your mail account type, connection type,
automatic polling settings, and exactly what isn't working, including the
difference between automatic and manual polling behavior.

No, because if you do a search of the archive of this NG on Google you will
discover HUNDREDS of posts on this subject from people since Windows 2003
has come out all with the same problem - and the precise technical info
posted - but no solution from anyone yet. Whenever people do post they
usually get a reply from someone with MVP after their sig saying "Delete and
create a new profile" or "make sure you have a contacts folder checked" and
then when the poster posts back saying it did not work the thread dies...
Until a new poster posts an identical problem and then some MVP sig person
trots out the same yacky yacky yack yack response...

This is is obviously a real problem that people are having with Outlook 2003
but MS seems to be ignoring it big-time.
