Automatic layout for inserted objects problem

My prooblem is this feature seems not to work when I paste something in the
slide such as clipart. The box is checked off under the tools section but its
a no go.

PowerPoint 2003?

This was such an UNpopular "feature" in earlier versions that MS changed the
behavior with pasted pictures.

You can click a content placeholder and then paste (but it may distort your
picture).
