I'm trying to upgrade the drivers for my ATI radeon
card. Under the installation tips for the drivers it
says to uninstall the old drivers, reboot, and then
reinstall the new ones. The problem is as soon as I
reboot windows automatically installs the old drivers
again before I can do anything. How do I get it to
prompt me before installing drivers on its own?

Boot in Safe Mode and un-install old drivers

Safe mode did not stop windows from automatically
reinstalling my video card with the previous drivers.
Also ATI's install package does not work while in safe
mode. Any more ideas?

Have you tried to use Device Manager to update the device
driver?

Click the Update Driver button on the Drivers tab of the
device's Properties dialog box. This will launch the
Update Device Driver wizard, which will step you throught
the process of updating the driver. During this process,
you will be prompted for the source of the new driver. Be
certain that you have the driver ready when you launch the
wizard.

Good luck!

Dat.
