Recently, a colleague with whom I correspond regularly at
his office e-mail address sent me an e-mail from his home
because he couldn't access his office network. Since
then, every time I type his name in the To: box, Outlook
automatically fills with his home e-mail address, even
though his entry in my Contacts folder lists only his
office e-mail address. How can I restore things to the
way they were before and have Outlook automatically fill
with his office address and not his home address?

Russ: I tried that and it didn't work. When I type in
the name I don't get a list. I only get one suggested
name and only the last half of that is highlighted. When
I highlight the whole name, it deletes it from the To: box
but not from the cache. Any other suggestions short of
deleting the whole cache?

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

No. Outlook 2002 won't allow you to delete an entry when its the only one in
the list. Outlook 2003 will. You either have to clear the whole cache, or
create a second entry that will appear in the list so you can delete the
other.
