I can only receive and send messages from/to my ISP when
I specifically execute send/receive from tools. I would
like to receive my messages automatically when opening
Outlook and I would like for them to be sent when hitting
send. What setting is incorrect wrong? In Mail Setup I
have the box checked to send immediately when connected...

Tools - Options - Internet E-mail - Check box for check my local network
connections for new mail every __ minutes.

How come when I first open Outlook my mail does not
arrive automatically. I must specifically execute
send/receive...

I'm not sure. If you're already connected to the internet when you start
Outlook, it should happen.

If you aren't already connected to the Internet and you haven't told Outlook
to dial up to check for messages when it opens, then it won't check until
you hit the send/receive button to establish a connection.

Tools - Options - Internet E-mail - Make sure automatically dial when
checking for new email messages is checked.

You need to check an automated polling option in your email options->send
receive settings.
