Automatic detection of IP address not working

I have this machine connected to a DHCP server. It has
always been set to obtain ip address automaticaly. Today
it stopped pulling our enternal IP address and went back
to the windows default ip address. I replaced the NIC card
to see if that was the problem but it wasn't. Has anyone
ever have this happen and if so what did you do to fix it.

A few things to check:

-- Verify that other computers on the same subnet have obtained a recent
lease.

-- Manually attempt to renew the client lease using ipconfig /renew

-- Verify that the client computer has a valid functioning network
connection. First, check that related client hardware (cables and network
adapters) are working properly at the client using basic network and
hardware troubleshooting steps.

-- If the client hardware appears to be prepared and functioning properly,
check that the DHCP server is available on the network by pinging it from
another computer on the same network as the affected DHCP client.

-- Make sure the scopes on the DHCP server are not depleted of addresses to
lease

-- If there's a router between the DHCP client and the server, make sure it
has DHCP forwarding enabled
