Since yesterday I have the Nikon Coolscan V ED on my desk. The first
attempts were were positive. At the moment I prefer as scanning strategy
for my large archive the saving of the pictures in 48-bit-tif-format (90
secs/picture) and all postprocessing steps automized in a script.

The only step, were I could not find yet an automatism, is croping. I
know, that VueScan has this ability, but I do not own this tool. Does
anybody know such a solution for NikonScan, PhotoShop or PaintShop?

Regards
Robert

In Nikonscan, set the crop you want using drag and drop with the crop
tool and then select Settings|Set User Settings. Whatever settings you
have for Nikonscan will then be the default until you change the User
Settings next time.

There is a pdf manual on the CD that came with the scanner and this
information, along with other useful features, is in there.
