If you want to find a way to autopopulate your autocomplete file, here's a
little work-around for you.
We were writing an import utility for the autocomplete file, but ceased our
efforts because it is very easy to populate your autocomplete file from your
Outlook Contacts folder(s) using the following work-around:
In OL, go to tools, options, mail setup, send/receive. Uncheck the "Send
immediatly when connected box". Then, press the Send/Receive Button and
uncheck "Schedule an automatic send/receive". Next disconnect your
computer from the internet by removing your network and/or telphone
connection. Open a new e-mail, press the bcc or to or cc button, select the
contact folder you would like to bring into your autocomplete file. Select
all names by highlighting first and last contact and then add them by
pressing the OK button at the bottom. With your computer disconnected,
press the send button. This will automatically populate your autocomplete
file with all of the selected e-mail addresses. Next, go to your Outbox and
delete the e-mail you just created.
Keep in mind that the autocomplete file can only hold 1000 contact names and
e-mail addresses.
If you want to learn more about the contents of your autocomplete file, you
can open it using a utility that we developed. It can be found at
www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm. It's call Owtlook. This utility can be
used to quickly edit or add information to your autocomplete file. In
addition you can export it for use in other applications.
Remember to put your mail settings back and plug in your removed cables.
