Automatic calculation

Good morning...

I have a workbook that I have saved as a manual
calculation which does NOT save before closing. I had to
set it up this way because I have SO many vlookups that it
was taking a very long time to open and calculate every
time.

Now, every time I close the workbook and re-open it, I
have to go through the same procedure
Tools/Options/Calculation/Manual

Can anyone tell me why I have to do this EVERY time? Why
doesn't it save my settings when I save the file?

This is the first book opened/created in a session. Is
there some code that I could place in the file to ensure
that the file will maintain the calculation behavior?

In a new wb, Tools>Options>Calculation tab>Set your calculation>OK. File
Save As>book.xlt in your XLStart directory. That will be come your new
default wb. Each new book will have that calculation set unless you already
have opened a wb with the opposite calculation.
