automatic backups

In Excel 2000 is there any way to do auto backups on all
files without having to go to save as, select tools,
select general options and selecting always create backup
for each individual file?

For existing workbooks individually is the only way.

For new workbooks you can make a Template.

Open a new workbook, create your settings as you wish.

File>Save As>File Type> "Template(*.xlt)"

Name it "BOOK"(no quotes). Excel will add the .XLT extension.

Store this in you XLSTART folder and it becomes the Template for all new
workbooks.
