I recently had to try and run an ASR. When doing so using the ASR floppy all
appeared well until it was finished restoring the data. A message came up
stating that the current configuration was different from the original and
that ASR could not continue. Upon restarting the install would get hung up
after "installing devices" - 33 minutes left. The only thing I had changed
was formatting the hard drive prior to attempting the recovery. I reloaded
windows and then ran the ASR from the backup file on my external hard drive
instead. This worked except that none of user account info or email
information was restored. Are all my saved messages gone? Should I retry
the ASR from floppy?

Sorry, but a format wipes the partition clean, it erases your previous
personal data and files, but most of your e-mail information will still be
in your mail account through the web logon... only those messages you may
have saved locally through Outlook or Outlook Express are gone.

Thanks for the info.

I found out what caused my initial problem prompting me to try and run the
ASR. It is a conflict between an older version of Spybot (V 1.3) and the
current definitions list involving what they believe is a "false positive"
for the malware "HellzLittleSpy". When Spybot "fixes" the issue it creates
an infinite logon - logoff loop. Here is a link with the info they have.

Thought you might be able to cross reference this to people who have the
loop issue and give them the fix before they wipe their drive and reinstall
like I did.

Thanks again.
