Is there any utility programs that will analyse a Windows computer
system and determine what drivers are needed and download them from
an internet site? Seems like I remember such a program being around
a few years ago. I beleive it was a specialty company that maintained
a large database of drivers.

Windows update does this to a certain extent, however you are NOT advised to
use drivers from winupdate, unless of course you want problems.
At least one of the utilities you refer to scanned yr sys, advised of any
updates, then directed you to the manu.site to download. It was not
automatic.
Use only hardware manu.site for updates; generally unless you are
experiencing a problem with hardware, or the new driver has enhanced
capability it is not neccessary to update.

That was the driver wizard from drivers.com. Not very useful, IMO. You're
better off checking the manufacturers' websites.
