I have been experiencing a problem with XP and my internet connection. Any time I start my computer, something is telling my modem to connect. I have removed all programs that I thought it has to do with, and I have even blocked all programs from within my firewall from being able to access the internet, but to no effect

If I let it connect, then nothing else happens, no othe programs attempt to use it (except the Windowns automatic updater

If I cancel the commection attempt, it tries again in 5 to 10 seconds

My Connection Internet Options are set up Never dial a connectio

I am at a loss to explain it, and it has only started happening since I reinstalled windows XP home yesterday

Can anyone help me?

Hi,
Download SpyBot Search & Destroy... it will remove all known dialers, you
might have got on your box.
This will help you narrow down your problem.

Adaware is another good program to remove "Spyware". Sometimes once spyware removal tools does not catch everything. You can get it here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com

I would say that removing any spyware will fix you problem
