Yes: it is easy peasy. But what Suzanne is warning you against is doing this
to normal.dot (the standard global template that creates a blank document
everytime you open Word).
The reason is that it has some undesirable affects such as making labels out
of alignment. If you want to add the path/filename at the bottom of
documents, you should create your own 'blank' template and add the field in
the footer. Normal.dot is best left 'normal'.

: Hi Suzanne,
: Thank you for the reply. I think I was not clear in my
: question. Whenever I create any new document in word
: 2003, I want the Filepath(full physical path - like C:\My
: Documents\First.doc) to appear on the footer of each
: document. So for second.doc it would be C:\My
: Documents\Second.doc.
:
: I want this appear automatically/with a single click.
: Right now I have to go Insert->AutoFormat->Header &
: Footer->Filename and Path. Can this process be automated.
:
: I tried creating a template document, attached a footer
: with the physical path works fine. When I try to create a
: new document using that template, it does add the footer
: automatically but does not add the full path.(Just adds
: the file name - First.doc and not C:\My
: Documents\First.doc)
:
: Thnx
