Hi All,

I have been using terminal server in which after I close the application ,
session is logged off and disconnected within 5 seconds. With the new terminal
server , it takes a minute to logoff & disconnect from the session when the
application is closed.

Appreciate if you could share your thoughts on this issue.

Thanks,
Umesh Gowda

Got add/remove pgms and click add/remove windows components. Remove TS, then
reinstall it on the appropriate domain controller.

??????
Doyle, could you explain? Your statement is:
a) not an answer to the question
b) absolutely wrong under all circumstances, since TS should never
be installed on a DC.

Umesh, could you give a little bit more details? I assume your new
server is running 2003, is that correct?
Where do you define the Staring Application? In TS Configuration,
or the users account details in AD, or in a GPO?

Can you check in Task manager on the Terminal Server which process
is running in the session after you clse the application and before
the session is ended?

Doyle,

I'm running 2003 server.I have not defined any starting application in TS
Configuration, or the users account details in AD, or in a GPO .After
installing the TS, I just created Remote desktop connection with link to
program. So when users clicks on the RDC, it takes him to the application.

When I close the application , RDC normally takes a minute to disconnect
from session.

Do I have to configure in TS Configuration, or the users account details in
AD, or in a GPO.

Appreciate your support.

The processes running behind are csrss, winlogon, rdpclip and userinit.

Thanks,
Umesh Gowda

Does this also happen when the user has been running the application
for a couple of minutes, or only when you exit the application
immediately after it starts (like you would when you test the rdp
connection)?

If it only happens after testing the application for less than one
minute, this behaviour is by design.

Documented here by Citrix, but applies to rdp sessions as well:

Published Application Sessions Take 60 Seconds to Log Off when
Windows 2003, Service Pack 1 is Installed
