I have an old HP PhotoSmart Scanner; it works OK at 2400 dpi, but it's
as slow as a snail and the output needs a lot of hand-processing.
With 8000 slides to scan, I'm afraid a I'll die (I'm 69) before I get
close to done.

I'm looking for suggestions on a decent scanner where I can stack 20
or 40 slides in a loader, press start, and come back a couple hours
later, and put in another stack of slides.

Is there a used scanner market for such scanners? Where to look for
one?

Thanks

Mike

Used film scanners can be found on Ebay.com.

If you have the money, look into a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED with the
optional Side Feeder SF210 for up to 50 mounted slides.
