Autofill E-mail Addresses?

Hi All,

In Outlook Express, I used to add a registry D-String value to the WAB4
folder called "UseOutlook" with a "1" value. This allowed OE to pull my
contacts from Outlook and keep the OE and Outlook address books identical.
Also and most importantly, when I typed an address, the program filled in the
e-mail address after the 1st 2-3 letters automatically.

I've upgraded my notebook pc to Vista and am not happy with Windows Mail
(the Vista version of OE) because it only fills in the last 29 e-mail
addresses sent out. I tried Outlook instead and it doesn't appear to be
filling in the e-mail address either. I have the box checked in setup that
supposedly does this.

Thanks very much for any help/suggestions!

If you just now started using it, you haven't populated your autocompletion
cache, have you? You won't see it working until you do.

No Russ, I havn't. Is the autocomplete cache unlimited addresses or is it
finite to 29 e-mail addresses like Vista's Windows Mail? That would be the
deciding factor right there. I can live with populating the cache if it's a 1
time permanent thing. If it's limiting and/or clears itself occassionally, it
won't work for me. I wrote too many business e-mails per day.

Thanks for taking the time to help!

The autocompletion cache retains your last 1000 recipients. After that, it's
FIFO. It has nothing to do with your Contact data. --

That's great info Russ, exactly what I needed to know. I'll give it a try.
Can always move to Thunderbird later from Outlook if I'm not happy.

Cheers!

No its not limited, at least if it is, its much much more than 29
Its contained in the nk2 file, which you can allways backup
