Autocounter!!

Can someone help me develop an autocounter field that will populate a
field in a table?? I am currently using an Autonumber but my table
doesn't like it and the autonumber keeps jumping around. I have read
that autonumber fields have been known to do this and everyone always
says to create your own autocounter.

Can anyone help me develop this autocounter and help implement it into
my table??

Hi Jeff,
Maybe you can help me with this
The sample is great!!
My problem is I have a base number-xxx. right now I am using a macro to find
the last number used, but would like to add one to that so it makes a new
number.
Any ideas!!
