Autocomplete

In Word 2002 the current date is supposed to pop up after
typing a space after the month. It does not work. I have
the autocomplete feature turned on. The month pops up
after typing for instance, "octo" the "October" pops up.
However after typing a space "October 6, 2003" doesn't
popup. I have tried turning it off and on and still it
doesn't work

Teri,

First make sure that you have AutoComplet turned ON. From
the the Insert menu, point to AutoText, and then click
AutoText. Select or clear the Show AutoComplete tip for
AutoText and dates check box.

With that feature turned ON, you will receive a screen tip
after you enter part of the Month, (e.g., Febru, displays
a screen tip for February. At that point press enter,
which inserts the month. To get the rest of the date, type
space, and press enter again.

Teri,

wanted to follow up with you to have you make sure that
you've selected a date format.

Click...

Insert Date and Time and select the format you want, e.g.,
October 6, 2003 followed by update automatically. This
will enable the insertion we discussed previously.

Hi

Probably has something to do with your regional settings.

The format that you start to type in must match the setting.

My setting is dd/mm/year/

Oct doesn't trigger auto complete but 06/ does.

Hope this solves the problem.

Thank you for your response. I did set the default date
setting however after typing "October " (with a space)
the current date does not popup. It's strange tho, if I
back space and then space again, it will work....go
figure.

This is a bug in Word 2002. It doesn't work the way it is described in Help.
You can get AutoComplete on the month or the whole date, not both. Some
users report success in some circumstances (perhaps after installing SPs).
