Autocomplete Options Grayed Out

Why would the option in autocomplete for user names and passwords on forms
and prompt me to save passwords be grayed out? The option to autocomplete web
addresses and forms are not. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have contacted the IT department for my company and they were not very
helpful in finding the cause.

Hi,
It's likely that this has been disabled via GPEDIT (Group Policy.) It's a
bit of a security risk to have autocomplete for usernames/passwords enabled
on a machine to which others have access.

If the IT dept is willing to consider changing this, it's probably this
policy:
http://www.boyce.us/gp/gpcontent.asp?ID=720
Registry Settings: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions!FormSuggest Passwords

Thanks for your reply. That string is not in my registry, but that does sound
like what has happened. Weird.
