AutoComplete Only Working On Some Contacts?

Hi,

I've just upgraded from office xp, to office 2003. Before I did I exported
all my outlook data to a pst file, and then imported it into outlook 2003.
However I've noticed now, that when I write emails, the AutoComplete on
names doesn't work with everyone.

i.e. 5 names, Bruce, Geoff, Maria, Mark & Marcus. If I type 'B' nothing
happens, if I type 'G' autocomplete suggests 'Geoff', but then if I type 'M'
it only suggests Mark & Marcus, not Maria.

I've checked the contacts details, all are layed out exactly the same, with:
'first name', 'last name', 'phone number', 'email address' and 'display as'
the only fields filled in.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ben

First, autocomplete has nothing to do with your Contacts data. Names are
entered into the autocompletion cache only as you send messages.
Second, importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. It is a
good way to lose data. You aren't changing file formats here. Just open or
reuse your Outlook data file.

Yeah I know, actually I forgot to mention I was running Office XP on both my
desktop & laptop, and got rid of the desktop. So I exported the data from
the desktop to the laptop then upgraded to Office 2003.
With the auto complete, I've emailed some of the people who aren't being
recognised by auto complete, but not emailed some who are? Let me just test
this.....
....Yeah just created a contact called 'glen' created a new message, type in
G and it suggests Glen or Geoff, even though I haven't sent a message to
Glen yet!

Remove the contact and try again. It will still suggest Glen, even though
there's no contact, since, as Russ said, the two are unrelated.

Not possible. Autocompletion will only offer names to which you've already
sent messages. Autoresolution will search your Contacts data. Perhaps you
are getting the two features confused. We can't tell which you're actually
using because you haven't provided enough detail about how you're selecting
recipients.
