First, make sure if the "Protected storage" service is running. (click
Start/Run/Services.msc)
If it is already enabled and the problem persist,
Download the the Auto-Complete , OE save password fix from here:

If you are unable to apply that fix, try the manual procedure here:

Autocomplete is not working. I went into tools, and it
is checked that it is allowing forms, passwords, etc, but
it wont save anything...
Using XP Home edition. IE 6.0 serv pack 1
