If the address you're trying to match correctly appears in your Contacts
folder as well, try this: First, start typing the name into the To box. If
the bad address fills in, press delete while it's still highlighted, so that
only the text you actually typed still appears in the box. Now press
CTRL-K. You should get a list of possible matches from your Contacts
folder(s). Select the one you want to use and press OK. Now clear the
contents of the To box again and start typing the name. It should now give
you both choices -- the bad entry and the other one you just chose from
Contacts. Highlight the bad entry (you may have to click on it to highlight
it, but if you do, don't release the mouse button) and press Delete. That
should get rid of it, and now when you type the name, it should complete
with the address you chose from Contacts.
If that doesn't work or you decide you'd rather just start over, look for a
file with an .NK2 extension and rename it or move it. Outlook will start a
new cache file the next time an e-mail address is typed into the To: box.
Note that if you're using Windows 2000 or XP, you'll need to search in
hidden and system folders to find the .NK2 file (it also helps to have file
extensions visible).
