autocomplete - drop-down suggestions

Hi,

I am using IE 6 on WindowsXP (for the first time after crash with Win98). I
would like to have the autocomplete on - thought I did set it so somewhere,
but when I clicked into a search engine text book - for example - old
submissions (recent - not that old) don't drop-down from the box like they
did back on win98. Any ideas?
