After starting to use IE 5 or 6, it will ask if you want to use
"autocomplete" to fill in fields or userids in logon screens. It seems like
once it is turned off, or if you have replied no "too" many times, it quits
offering/supplying possible and can't be turned back on. Would reinstalling
IE help reset this feature?

Are you running Windows XP?

If yes, have you checked your Content tab at Tools > Internet Options?

No, at least not on some machines (W2k). It seems like once IE has decided
that I don't want to remember/use this, it won't reset the feature,
regardless of what is set on/off in the Content tab at Tools > Internet
Options > AutoComplete Settings. Would the "Re: IE6 .. how to restore
password prompt? discussion from Jon Kennedy on 4/15/2005 7:28" apply here?
The behavior or lack thereof seems similar on fields whether they are userid
fields or not. Thanks

Hi,
From http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers4.htm#autocomplete (the link
that Jon posted.)

Go ahead and export the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\IntelliForms] key then delete the AskUser DWORD Value. It's worth a
try.

To get IE to prompt to save passwords, I've had success with this method:
Clearing all passwords should work to reset the "Save Password" option for
that site. IE> Tools> Options> Content> Autocomplete> Clear Passwords.
Protected Storage PassView from http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pspv.html will
help you recover other cached passwords *before* you clear all passwords.

Hope this helps,
Don
