Hello,

I have a user who needs all the names in the drop-down lists that would
appear the moment she began typing an email address. Used to be huge...now
it's empty. I assume there is file on the c drive with all these entries and
that it can be imported. Please assist. Thanks very much. :-)

The file is/was a file with an NK2 extension. I don't know if there's a way
to import directly into it.

What version of Outlook? That feature doesn't exist prior to Outlook 2002.
For those versions you should be able to regenerate the file from your
Contacts folder, but keep in mind it holds only 1,000 names. Also, see
http://www.dcs-imaging.com/ for a commercial tool that can manipulate the
autocompletion cache file.

Joseph,

We have a utility that will let you import an external data source directly
into the NK2. Conversely, you can press one button and copy NK2 data into a
contact folder. You can find it at www.ingressor.com it's call Ingressor,
taken from the root word Ingress, the power to access.

Finally got the name changed, I see.

A lot more than the name has changed. "Son of Owtlook" has become a pretty
robust tool.

I was using outlook express but changed to outlook recently
Outlook express used to have the function of the auto complete nam
that suggest the kind of email addresses I'm typing
I have checked the box in the outlook but this function is still no
activated
Could you advise if I missed out any other steps

Why do you not think it is activated?
Have you sent enough messages to populate a robust autocompletion cache?

Brian,

I'm writing a white paper on the discoveries of the NK2 file's relationship
to ADIS and the conflicts that occur therein. Since I don't function in an
Exchange environment, most of what I've learned has been gleaned from
Exchange Admins. complaining about such issues. It is my guess that MOST of
the Exchange world is aware of "A" problem, but not necessarily that the
problem stems from the NK2.

You may find it interesting reading when I'm done.

Randy
