How do I turn off the autochk feature (poss. following an incorrect
shutdown)? It automatically comes on at each login. I have tried the chntfs/x
c: but that did'nt work. Neither has a system restore. Layman's terms please!

Either through the scheduled task control panel by clicking Start >> All
programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Double click on Scheduled Tasks
and see if the chkdsk is been set to start on start up every time the
computer boot up.

Download the Autoruns:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Security/Autoruns.mspx
Either clcik on Boot Execute Tab or Scheduled tasks Tab, you will see two
chkdsk, one of them will be funny looking I cannot the full wording (sorry),
remove this.
HTH.

Thanks for the info nass. It wasn't a scheduled task as I had already checked
that out, but the autoruns link was very helpfull and has done the trick.
Once again many thanks.
