AutoCAD drawing opens in browser window

Hello all, hoping somebody can help with this. Where I
work we have a web application for in-house use, which we
use IE 6.x to access. The application includes links to
AutoCAD *.dwg files which are stored on the network.

The problem is that when a user (some users, not all)
clicks on a link to an autoCAD file, the file opens in IE,
not in autoCAD. This is a problem because IE

does not allow the user to zoom in, and the default view
