I just downloaded sp2 and it has sent me 32 update to install, I don't want
to download them all at once, how can I do one at a time? do I take the check
marks off of the ones I want to read and do later? and how to I get them back
if I do? thanks, Jag

I just don't want to do them all at once in case some cause me troubles , I
would not know the one that caused it. I have the updates to notify me of
updates buy let me chose to download and install them, they are in an icon in
the taskbar and when I clcik on it it shows 32 updates with check marks , I
can chose to download them but I don't think it would be wise to do all of
them at once, what should I do? thanks, jag

I'd download & install all of 'em, jag. Every now and then there is an
update which must be installed and the machine rebooted before any others
can be installed. Automatic Updates "knows" this and will install them in
the right order, giving you the appropriate prompts.

If you want to pick & choose, go to Windows Update
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and choose Custom Install. Carefully
check all of the updates listed in the Results window for "You must install
this update first" warnings. If you see one, install only that update,
reboot, then return to WIndows Update (Custom Install again) for the rest of
them.

Don't they tell you not to do that, in case your computer acts up you wont
know which one caused it. if I install all of them at once , how will I know
which one caused if any caused a problem? jag

If you encounter problems which you can attribute to installing an update,
help's always available at microsoft.public.windowsupdate, jag. All but few
updates are fully uninstallable theses days.

Look at it this way: If it wasn't safe to install all of the updates, why
would MS have spend so much time making Automatic Updates available to us?

All updates certainly doesn't apply to all machines, OR ALL localized
versions.
For localized versions some updates come later, some come at the same time
as the "original" (US?) versions.......

But if an update doesn't apply to your machine, autoupdate doesn't even
offer it for you. To get updates that don't pertain to your machine, you
have to visit Windowsupdate catalog....

OK, then your saying it is safe to download all 32 at the same time? ok, I
sure hope it goes well, thanks, jag

I found out myself, the hard way, how windows update works, if you chose ,
notify me of update but let me chose when to download and install them, you
can take the check marks off and it will just download the checked one ,
you either have to option to put a check mark in the "don't notify me again",
or don't put check mark on it and it will still have the updates marked for
the next time you want to download and install them, that way you don't have
to do them all at once, if you say "don't notify me again" you can go to
windows update and click on "show hidden updates, its that simple, all of you
should answer the question we ask or say you don't know, but don't give bad
advice, jag
