Every time I turn on my PC on now an annoying window pops up saying my auto
update isn't on, I go through the bother to turn in back on (click the
bubble).... and next morning it's the SAME thing! Why wont it hold the
setting? Also, I use ZoneAlarm but the MS firewall keeps poping up
saying......

How the hell do I turn this crap off? Now you see why I put off updating
with these endless service packs and already uninstalled SP2 once before?

Auto updates is SUPPOSED to be running - turned on and RUNNING.... see
below!!!!

AAARRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! > :-O

The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services is
not running:

a.. Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install
high-priority updates for your computer)
b.. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download
more quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)
c.. Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with
troubleshooting, if needed)

I would first run a utility like Ad-aware (freeware from Lavasoft) to search
for and remove Spyware/Malware. Recently, it seems that this is the most
common problem of things not working correctly.

For more information & links to utilities, see this page:

If this doesn't help, then I'd run the Msconfig utility and deselect Startup
items. Restart your system when prompted and then configure auto update.
Immediately exit and shut down your system. Start your system and check to
see that auto update is on and then run the Msconfig utility and reselect
Startup items. If this works, then something that you are loading at
Startup is causing a problem with saving configuration changes.

## I'm way ahead of you on that. I have BOTH and run/update them regularly.
I also have several other programs to protect my PC from crap-ware.

## Nothing was found on my PC.

## I'll try that. Thanks......
