I have an IBM Think Pad. When I shut down the laptop, there is a
message that says installing updates. Which company is is installing
updates. Is it Lenovo or Microsoft, or both?. How can I find out and
stop this auto feature?

Thanks -

The message is from Microsoft. Obviously your pc has been updating in the
background. As sson as you shut down, assuming you haven't installed the
updates yourself, windows automatically starts installing the updates.
To remove the feature you will need to stop automatic updates (control
panel>automatic updates> turn off automatic updates). the only snag is doing
this means you will have to visit the windows update site regularly to check
for updates.

Hi

Possibly Microsoft. Go to Windows Update to see if there are any new ones
that your Thinkpad needs.
