how do i insert the file name & path in my word doc? i.e. when i go to insert, auto text, header/footer, none of my options include "insert the file name & path", whereas my boss has that option on his computer. i've searched & searched in word, but nothing has even come close to helping me.

thanks,
diane

It's not autotext. It's a field.

Hi Diane,

Insert a field like:
{FILENAME \p}
wherever you want this to appear, remembering to create
the braces that enclose the field via Ctrl-F9. Then press
F9 to update.

You can also get the same result via Insert|Field|Document
Information|Filename then selecting Options|Field Specific
Switches and selecting the \p. ... or via View|Header &
Footer, then selecting Autotext|Filename and Path ... or
via Insert|Autotext|Autotext| and selection Filename and
Path|Insert.

Cheers
