Can anyone tell me how to run the slide show straight from the file open as
opposed to opening PowerPoint then pressing F5 or icon?

Regards
Darren

rename you presentation from .ppt to .pps, through Windows Explorer. Or, open
the presentation in PowerPoint, and Save as PowerPoint Show (.pps)

Hello,

Even in the latest version of PowerPoint (2003), presentations opened via
the File menu will always

open up in an editing view. In other responses to your post, workarounds
have been suggested using

the *.pps (PowerPoint Show) file extension and opening presentations from
the Windows shell.

However, if it's still important to you that you be able to force
presentations to come up in slide

show view automatically when opened from the File menu, don't forget to
send your feedback to

Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is

important to you that your product suggestion be implemented by Microsoft.
Microsoft receives

thousands of product suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any
given product

development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important

to our customers so take the extra time to state your case as clearly and
completely as possible.

Here is another way, and you do not need to convert your ppt file to a
pps file.

Run Explorer. Right click on you ppt or pps file. Your menu will
show your open or show. Left click on show and ...... your show
begins.
