Auto sorting ranges

Is there some solution around to auto sort elements in a
range (like would do it by Data | Sort) by using the
builtin worksheet functions only?

No macro, VBA, etc. please.

"Sorting a range" means distributing the contents of that range in a certain
way (e.g. alphabetically). So if you have a spreadsheet that is 1 column
wide and 2 rows long, A1 has APPLE and A2 has ORANGE, there is no formula
way to sort those, because there is no place to put a formula.

Since you cannot put a built in, or any other, formula inside a cell that
contains a value (and get it to work)-- then there is no way to do this.
