Auto-Select Encoding not working

When I bring up IE6 the pictures are just blank boxes with
the little box with a red "X". I have Auto-Slecet checked
under Encoding. If I pick a differend Windows option such
as Windows Western European it will refresh that page and
bring in the pictures. When I move to another page it has
to be redone. It is the same in any Outlook Email I get,
the pictures aren't there just the boxes with the
red "X". Looking for help to fix problem.

Which OS? Can you try an IE Repair?

Here is another suggestion I have made before about this.
A user who tried it (Dutch) claimed it caused more problems
but I can't understand why. Subsequent testing showed that
the idea is valid though perhaps not as useful as I had hoped.

Try changing your Regional settings and Language preference
to EN-US. For the former you should be able to add a tool
to your System tray which would allow you to toggle between
Regional settings. For the latter use IE's Tools menu
(Alt-T,O,Alt-L,...)

Please report back if this has any effect. I have made this
suggestion before but have not had any feedback yet one
way or the other. FWIW I use EN-US for both (actually
never even had a problem with EN-CA for Language)
and my View, Encoding Auto-Select works fine.

If there is a particular page you are having trouble with
please post a link.

Good luck
