auto run

Not sure if this is a windows (xp pro) setting or something in my external
drive.

When I access my external hardrive all my pictures autoplay, is there a way
to switch this off.

Hello,

Attach the drive. In 'My Computer' right-click on the drive and click
on 'Properties'.
Click the Autoplay tab.
Click the 'Select and action...' radio button and click on 'Take no
action.
OK to get out.

p.s. you have to repeat this if you have other removable drives.
