Auto Run doesn't on my laptop.

My laptop , a Presario R3060, will not AutoRun/AutoPlay any type of CD
inserted in the DVD/CDRW Drive. Further, it does not recognize any of
the settings in the AutoPlay tab of the Drive Properties. I have tried
them all. I would at least like to be able to insert a software CD and
the setup come up on the screen or failing that, have Windows Explorer
open to show the files on the CD. As it is, I have to manually open My
Computer, then the Drive and finally select Setup.Exe for the software
on the CD. I don't really care too much about it auto playing a music
CD.

I have, I believe, the latest driver from HP and have used the device
manager to uninstall the drive and let XP reinstall it using that
driver.

Is there any thing else I should do to make the bloomin' thing behave
like my other two XP machines? (I just confirmed they both recognize
the MS Office CD's setup automatically. It had been such a long time
since I installed anything from a CD I wasn't sure they both behaved
that way.) One clue might be that the laptop has Pro and the others
Home but why should that make a difference.

Thank you for any help on this.

Contact Compaq, you seem to have check everything obvious.

Jim,

That certainly is the final thing I will do if no one can come up with a
solution in the Groups, but I'm sure not looking forward to it based

It's me again. Well, I just uninstalled the Drive again and reinstalled
it with the original driver. Works fine now! Go figure!

Anyway, thanks for your reply.
